We can't decide how or when we'll die, but we can decide how we live.

I was thinking this morning about all the warmth and good will that will be generated today, and at the center of it will be 30 million dead turkeys.
That is weird.
I turn on the TV and there is a live New York Musical being performed on the street, perhaps it is for the Macy's parade, it has a real sleazy faire to it.
Of course, the TV cameras hone in on the 3 leads and ignore the other 20 dancers.
We are treated to every bump and grind and cleavage bounce that this "live show" has to offer.
The musical was meant to be watched on stage by an audience in wide shot mode, (which would make the overgesticulated movements look more natural)
Instead, the impromptu televised version must smother us in close-up after close-up of crotch-grab-a-vision.
We're back baby!
I Open up the newspaper and see a story about how the television ratings for the nightly news on all three channels have steadily dwindled for the last 10 years as more and more time was devoted to "fluff" stories about celebrities. Imagine that, fluff stories on the nightly news and the nightly news ratings tumble down. But everyone knew this while it was going on, yet did it anyways!
Another article "blames/credits" Jaws and Star Wars with creating the 100 million dollar movie blockbuster 20 years ago and in the process turning Hollywood from a cottage industry into a money making machine...
Gosh, Money Making Machines versus Cottage Industry.
The Stock Market Glorifies Money Making Machines and ridicules and stamps out any vestige of Cottage Industries in this country.
Now you know why the Stock Market Sucks...
....and sadly, we become the infidels for unconditionally accepting the Big Money Making Machines Political Donations to our politicians that help stamp out our cottage industries.
I guess we should give thanks that our Money Making Machines keep us semi-employed and semi-safe.
Happy Thanksgiving, and hold hands and give thanks that it only takes killing 30 million birds for us to achieve close-knit bonding for a day.

From the Thanksgiving day Birds point of view, you could call Oct 31 the day of reckoning...
Oct 31 is actually Halloween.
Thanksgiving is celebrated the fourth Thursday in November.
Why couldn't one state in the U.S. every year practice a vegetarian Thanksgiving?
I eat way less meat than I used to when I was younger and just went along.
Now, I still eat meat, but I definitely don't want it more than once or twice a week.
Giving "Thanks" by killing 30 million birds seems weird.
